Four crops

Cassava, maize, cocoa and cashews

Two staples for food security and two tree crops for commercial and export upside.

Food security

Cassava

A staple with steady demand for food, feed and processing. Target yield of 20 to 25 tonnes of fresh roots per hectare.

In Phase 1 we plan to plant 50 to 80 hectares, targeting 1,000 to 2,000 tonnes of fresh roots a year to supply our processing unit. Across both phases our planning basis is 400 to 600 hectares.

Food security

Maize

Grain for food and animal feed. Target yield of 3 to 5 tonnes per hectare under mechanised management with improved seed.

In Phase 1 we plan to plant 25 to 40 hectares, targeting 75 to 200 tonnes of grain a year. Across both phases our planning basis is 200 to 300 hectares.

Commercial and export

Cocoa

A tree crop with export potential. Target of 0.8 to 1.0 tonne of dry beans per hectare at maturity, from year 4 to 5.

Cocoa is planned for Phase 2, on a planning basis of 200 to 300 hectares, once Phase 1 results and feasibility are known.

Commercial and export

Cashews

A tree crop with export potential. Target of 0.5 to 0.9 tonne of raw nuts per hectare at full maturity, around year 7.

Cashews are planned for Phase 2, on a planning basis of 200 to 300 hectares, once Phase 1 results and feasibility are known.

The final crop mix, site and scale for all four crops depend on soil, water, buyer and financial feasibility work.
